One of the Central Coast’s last-standing video stores is closing its doors.

Crossroads Video in San Luis Obispo has announced it will close by the end of October.

The Broad St. store has been in business for more than 20 years but staff say rent is going up and they can’t afford to keep the shop open anymore.

Crossroads Video employee Alex Blume says the closure is emotional for many.

“I remember when I was a kid, walking around shopping in the store. That’s why I wanted to work here, was when I was coming in as a kid at least once a week,” he said. “I had one woman come in and she almost broke down in tears.”

Crossroads Video is now in the process of selling off the last of its movies.

It is the last video store in San Luis Obispo and one of three left in San Luis Obispo County.
