Warming Center to open in San Luis Obispo as rain approaches

San Luis Obispo will open a Warming Center Wednesday as rain is in the forecast.

The 40 Prado Warming Center will open Wednesday evening. Check-in begins at 6:30 p.m.

People can arrive anytime during the evening, but once you leave, you will not be able to return.

Pets are allowed, and smoking is allowed in designated areas.

Overnight guests will receive a hot meal and a dry place to stay.

The Warming Center will close at 7:30 a.m. and regular day services begin at 8:00 a.m.

The center is looking for donations of no-cook breakfast items. They can be dropped off at 40 Prado Road in San Luis Obispo. If you have questions regarding donations, you can call 805-544-4004.

The center is also looking for other donations including:

  • Large trash bags
  • Disposable plates, bowls, cups, and utensils
  • Coffee, tea, creamer, sugar
  • Breakfast bars
  • Instant Noodle/Cup of Noodles
  • Large backpacks
  • New socks and warm gloves
  • Rain gear, ponchos, and umbrellas

The Warming Center may be open on future dates as well, depending on weather conditions.
