A Santa Maria woman was killed in a head-on wrong-way car crash late Saturday night in Nipomo.
At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday night Edgar Morales, 23, was driving north on the southbound lane on Thompson Ave. between East Knotts Street and Rancho Road. His black Honda Accord then crashed head-on with a black BMW according to California Highway Patrol.
Maricela Marquez, 55, and Maria Medina, 82, were inside the BMW at the time of the crash.
CHP said Medina suffered fatal injuries in the crash. Marquez was the driver of the car, she suffered minor injuries.
Morales had major injuries and was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria and was arrested at the hospital.
CHP said drugs and or alcohol are suspected to be involved in the incident. The crash is under investigation.
