A motorcyclist was killed in a crash near Santa Barbara City College Monday.
The Santa Barbara Police Department says it happened around 4 p.m. The motorcyclist was riding west on Loma Alta at Cliff Drive. Police say the motorcyclist had a green light and went through the intersection at a high rate of speed. The motorcyclist then came upon a BMW that was leaving Santa Barbara City College.
The motorcyclist went into a different lane, over-corrected, fishtailed, and lost control. Investigators say the motorcyclist tried to get control of the bike but was thrown into the air. The two vehicles never hit each other.
The motorcyclist died at the scene.
The coroner is working on identifying the person who died.
