Suspect arrested after knife fight in Santa Barbara area

A suspect was taken into custody after the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office says he pulled a knife on someone after a fight.

Deputies say it happened around 2:50 p.m. Sunday in the Santa Barbara area.

The Santa Barbara County Public Safety Dispatch Center received a call from someone who said a suspect was being held down after pulling a knife in the 100 block of South Turnpike Road, in an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara.

Deputies arrived at the scene and took the suspect into custody.

Investigators say they determined the suspect had pulled a knife and slashed someone’s hand after a fight. Both the suspect and victim had minor injuries.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene.

The suspect, who was identified as Scott Luikart, 65 of Santa Barbara, was taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Luikart was booked into Santa Barbara county Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

He is being held on $30,000 bail.
