A wrongful death and elder abuse lawsuit has been filed in a machete killing in Morro Bay.
William Joel Schonberger is accused of killing his father, William John Schonberger, by repeatedly hitting him with a machete in December of 2016. The victim, who was 59, was found in his Morro Bay home.
In 2017, Schonberger was found incompetent to stand trial.
The lawsuit was filed in San Luis Obispo County Superior Court by Weslee Schonberger on behalf of the estate of William John Schonberger. It seeks punitive damages.
