California Department of Transportation officials say there is a ‘high likelihood’ that Highway 1 at Mud Creek and Paul’s Slide in Monterey County will be closed on Sunday.
Caltrans finishedrepairs on a retaining wall in October after Paul’s Slide was damaged during a storm in January 2017 and a portion of Highway 1 was closed for several months while crews made repairs.
The predicted closure is due to heavy rain predicted Sunday evening into Monday morning. It’s likely the closure will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Crews will continue to monitor the forecast and will provide an update by noon on Sunday.
