A San Luis Obispo family was ready for a momentous day — a wedding was set to take place in the backyard.

However, Mother Nature crashed the party early this morning.

At 4:30 a.m., a large eucalyptus tree fell amidst the worst of the rain and strong winds at the home on San Marcos Court.

The tree ended up leaning up against the side of the house where the wedding was supposed to take place today.

The good news is there was minimal damage to the house and the wedding tents.

“It could have been a whole lot worse just because the house is still there, the shade is still there, all these tents are here and we are standing on a deck that could be gone. We’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. It will go on,” Jimmy Cone, brother of the bride, said.

The Cone family says the wedding will go on as scheduled. Bunyon Bros. Tree company was working to clear the tree in time for the reception Saturday afternoon.
