A suspected DUI driver is in custody after CHP officers say she led them on a chase from Goleta to Los Alamos Tuesday afternoon.
CHP officers received a “be on the lookout” alert for a DUI driver in the Goleta area around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday.
An officer located the vehicle and tried to stop the driver, but officers say a woman in her mid-60s then led them on a chase from Goleta to Buellton. Officers used a spike strip to hit her tire in Buellton, but the CHP says she managed to keep driving from Buellton to Los Alamos with a flat tire.
Eventually, she pulled over on Highway 101 northbound in Los Alamos.
The CHP says she gave herself up to officers.
Her name hasn’t been released at this time. CHP officers say she could face charges of felony evading and DUI.
Investigators believe drugs and/or alcohol were involved, but further testing is needed.
No one was injured in the incident. CHP officers were able to slow traffic behind the chase, in order to make sure no other drivers found themselves in a dangerous situation.
A helicopter was used during the chase.
