Two nonprofits are coming together to help change the lives of cancer patients.

“Girls Going Greater” is partnering with “Cancer-Well-Fit,” a free exercise program for first-year cancer survivors.

Thursday evening they hosted an awareness event in Avila Beach and shared stories and information on how they support survivors.

Cancer well-fit offers free classes at the Avila Bay Athletic Club and Spa, such as strengthening and restorative yoga, tai-chi, water aerobics and more. The Club and Spa matches dollar for dollar so more cancer survivors can be served for free.

“We’re thrilled because without the help of the community, people that have hearts like Girls Going Greater, we couldn’t keep this program funded. So they allow us to do what we do for community members who have cancer. So it means the world, it really does,” said Executive Director of Cancer Well-Fit, Jan Secord.

Participating survivors can also bring a spouse, friend or caregiver for free.
