8-year-old Phoenix Agalos

Phoenix has been fighting cancer for over a year. Last week, his doctors told his family that cancer progressed too far and there was no treatment left for him.

His family isn’t giving up. They’ve been searching for new doctors and treatments, but need help paying for travel expenses.

Their story caught the attention of a local business owner who is challenging other businesses to do what they can to help.

“This one kind of hit home with me. It’s a local boy and I have a 6-year-old son myself and a 10-month little girl so this one, I couldn’t imagine what the parents are going through for Phoenix with the family and the friends and everything,” said Steven Herring, All About Events Owner.

All About Events is starting “Flamingos for Phoenix.” Every time a business donates to Phoenix’s family, they’ll move a flock of fake flamingos to the business to draw attention to its service.

Herring has an added challenge for companies in the event and wedding industries. He says he’s going to match the first donation.

The family also has aGoFundMe page set up to help with medical expenses.
