The Grover Beach City Council swore in a new council member Monday night.
Karen Bright will take over for Debbie Peterson who abruptly resigned in February. At the time, Peterson cited frustration over alleged corruption in city government, including how the city council allegedly handled the cannabis industry.
Several community members at Monday’s meeting were unhappy with the decision to appoint a new council member. They said they didn’t have an opportunity to give input.
Council member Barbara Nicolls was not at Monday’s meeting due to a surgery.
City leaders previously said they were disappointed with the comments from Peterson and that the allegations she made were unfounded.
