Opening statements are expected to start Monday in the case of Alex Geiger.
Geiger is a former Grover Beach police officer who was charged in connection with a deadly dog attack in 2016.
He faces two felony counts of failing to maintain control of a deadly or dangerous animal and involuntary manslaughter.
David Fear, 64, was killed in the attack. A woman named Betty Long, who was 85 at the time, was seriously injured.
Jury selection in the case began on Tuesday.
