Caltrans is starting a months-long project to improve Highway 1 between Cayucos and Harmony.

Crews will resurface the highway and reconstruct ramps and shoulders. The work will be done south of 13th St. in Cayucos to Harmony Valley Rd.

There will be alternating lane closures Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Fridays, the lane closures will occur between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Crews will also be working overnight throughout the week from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The Old Creek overcrossing at 13th St. and the C St. undercrossing at Cayucos Dr. will also be closed for construction. Caltrans says the ramp closures will last for 24-hours for no longer than two weeks, and no two consecutive ramps will be closed in a row.

The project will be ongoing through November.

Despite all the work, Caltrans says delays for drivers should be minimal.  CHP officers will be patrolling the area to make sure drivers are able to travel safely through the construction zones.
