The Morro Bay Kite Festival will return for its 15th year this weekend with kite demonstrations and fun activities for the whole family.
The festival kicks off with a kite flying demonstration Friday from 3-5 p.m. in the Morro Rock parking lot. Afterward, Tognazzini’s Dockside restaurant will hold a dinner for professional kite-flyers.
Kites will start soaring by 10 a.m. Saturday over Morro Beach and the Morro Rock parking lot. Superheroes and princesses will be on hand to help launch your kite or you can sing “Let’s go fly a kite” with Mary Poppins and Burt.
The kite festival runs through Sunday afternoon with a variety of events and demonstrations.
Visitors can enter raffles at the festival, including an Instagram content. People are asked to post a picture from the kite festival with #MorroBayKiteFestival and share a funny story about your kite-flying experience. The winner will receive a one-night stay in Morro Bay, dinner for two and a cruise of the bay.
