Leaders are reacting to the synagogue shooting that killed one person and injured three others near San Diego on Saturday.
A 19-year-old man armed with a rifle opened fire inside a synagogue near San Diego as worshippers celebrated the last day of Passover, authorities said.
The shooting came exactly six months since a shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue killed 11 people in the deadliest attack on Jews in U.S. history.
President Donald Trump expressed his condolences to those affected and praised law enforcement on Twitter.
Thoughts and prayers to all of those affected by the shooting at the Synagogue in Poway, California. God bless you all. Suspect apprehended. Law enforcement did outstanding job. Thank you!

Sincerest THANK YOU to our great Border Patrol Agent who stopped the shooter at the Synagogue in Poway, California. He may have been off duty but his talents for Law Enforcement weren’t!

Meanwhile California Gov. Gavin Newsom condemned the attack, citing several other tragedies at places of worship.
Charleston, Pittsburgh, Quebec, New Zealand — now our own Poway, California.
No one should ever fear going to their place of worship.
Hate continues to fuel horrific and cowardly acts of violence across our state, country, and world. It must be called out. CA stands with Poway.

California Rep. Adam Schiff and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris responded on twitter, denouncing the act of anti-Semitism.
Another despicable and violent act of anti-Semitism — this time at a synagogue in Poway, California at the end of Passover.
We must act to end the scourge of gun violence and come together against the disturbing rise of violent hatred across the U.S. https://t.co/EDXVHJPnGP

Yet again a place of worship is the target of senseless gun violence and hate. Anti-Semitism is real in this country and we must not be silent – enough is enough. My heart aches for the Chabad of Poway synagogue and the Jewish community.
