UPDATE: Suspect armed with samurai sword taken into custody

UPDATE (10:57 p.m.) – The sheriff’s office says a suspect has been taken into custody.

Investigators say they arrested King Rosario, 38, of Goleta.

The sheriff’s office says he was found walking on Kellogg Avenue near the train tracks about an hour and a half after the incident first happened.

The sheriff’s office wasn’t able to release the exact charges that Rosario could be facing in the incident.

ORIGINAL STORY (10:02 p.m.) – The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect who is reportedly armed with a samurai sword.

Deputies say the suspect was involved in an argument around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday in Old Town Goleta. It happened in front of the McDonald’s location in the 100 block of Fairview Avenue, near Calle Real.

Investigators say he threatened the victim and showed that he had a sword. Deputies say he ran off as they were responding to the scene.

CHP officers helped the sheriff’s office secure a perimeter around the area, and they’re currently searching the area for the suspect.

Several K-9 teams and a helicopter are also assisting in the search.

The sheriff’s office says people who live in Old Town Goleta received an emergency notification to shelter in place.

Amtrak train service is also impacted due to the investigation.

The sheriff’s office did not release a detailed description of the suspect.
