Paso Robles police are notifying people who recently purchased a chainsaw that it may have been stolen.

Paso Robles police responded to reports of a theft on May 12 in the 2800 block of School House Circle.

Someone had accidentally left their garage door open overnight. At some point, someone went into the garage and stole three Stihl chainsaws.

Police later identified Harrison Labarbera, 29 of Paso Robles, as a suspect.

They say he was trying to sell two of the stolen chainsaws online.

On Tuesday morning, police say Labarbera agreed to meet someone at Pioneer Park to sell one of the chainsaws.

Officers say he arrived at the park in a stolen white Nissan Altima that was driven by Miguel Ramos Jr., 34, of Paso Robles.

Police say Labarbera tried to sell the chainsaw to an undercover officer.

Police converged on the area during the sale.

Officers say Ramos tried to drive away but was stopped by other units responding to the area. They say Labarbera also tried to run away but was caught.

Labarbera was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, conspiracy, and possession of methamphetamine.

Ramos was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property, driving on a suspended license, providing false ID to a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy, violation of probation, and multiple warrants.

Police say one of the stolen chainsaws was recovered during the investigation, but they believe another one was sold to someone.

Anyone who believes they may have purchased the stolen chainsaw is asked to contact the Paso Robles Police Department so officers can return it to its rightful owner.
