UPDATE: Car fire, downed power lines shut down road in San Luis Obispo

UPDATE (9 a.m.) – The City of San Luis Obispo says power is out at the intersection of Patricia and Los Osos Valley Road after two power poles were hit. PG&E crews are on scene and traffic is being monitored.


UPDATE (6:50 a.m.) – One lane of Foothill Blvd. has reopened after a car crashed into power pole early Thursday morning.

The lane closure is in place from Blue Granite Ln. to Los Cerros Dr. Officers have not given an update to when the road will fully reopen.


A stretch of W. Foothill Blvd. in San Luis Obispo is closed Thursday morning after a car crashed into a power pole.

According to San Luis Obispo police and CHP, a driver crashed a vehicle into a power pole along Foothill Blvd. shortly after 3 a.m.

PG&E is on scene working to remove live power lines that fell across the roadway.

Foothill Blvd. is closed from Blue Granite Ln. to Los Cerros Dr. There is no estimate to when the road will reopen.

Police say the driver was not injured or arrested following the crash.
