One man is behind bars facing multiple charges accused of fleeing from law enforcement and causing a crash late Friday night in San Luis Obispo.

On Saturday, CHP says the driver, Jacob Dreyer, 28, is now facing charges of felony evading, hit & run causing injuries and DUI.

It began around 10 p.m. on Southbound Highway 101 at California Blvd. when law enforcement tried to pull over a car for speeding.

The car, a 2014 white Dodge Challenger, exited at Madonna Road with a CHP vehicle following it with lights and sirens activated.

CHP says it appeared the driver was going to pull over but sped through the traffic light at the off-ramp and fled southbound on Madonna Road at a high rate of speed.

A few minutes later, the Challenger clipped a truck at the intersection of Los Osos Valley Road and Madonna Road, lost control and slammed into a light pole.

CHP says Dreyer fled the scene but was apprehended a short time later by San Luis Obispo police.

Two passengers in the car had to be extricated by San Luis Obispo Fire Department. They were transported to the hospital. No word on the extent of their injuries.

Dreyer was also treated for injuries sustained in the crash. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office booking logs show he was booked into jail at 7 a.m. Saturday.
