The Santa Barbara Unified School District released updates about how it's moving forward amid covid-19 restrictions.

The district will not apply for an elementary school waiver and officials say a survey showed parents and staff do not overwhelming support a return to school.

Small groups of students, based on greatest need, will be served in-person with health protocols in place.

Additionally, if all health and safety requirements are met, high school athletics for fall sports will begin next week.
