California Highway Patrol reports 3 deaths, 157 arrests during first 24 hours of maximum enforcement

Three people have died on California roadways in the last 24 hours, CHP reported.

In the first 24 hours of its maximum enforcement effort, officers have made 157 arrests for driving under the influence. The three deaths come during the same period.

CHP will continue its increased presence on the roadways through Dec. 1.
