UPDATE (Monday, Jan. 5) - Highway 1 north of Ragged Point has reopened, Caltrans reported Monday, saying crews were able to clear culverts and remove debris from the roadways.

(Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026) - As of Sunday, Jan. 4, Highway 1 is closed for six miles just north of Ragged Point Inn due to flooding and minor rockfall in several spots.

The closure extends to the north end at Post Mile 4.7 in Monterey County, near Radio Point. There’s currently no estimate for when the road will reopen.
