The Monterey Bay Aquarium will open its doors to the public again on Monday, July 13.
Tickets will go on sale starting Wednesday, July 1, and will be available only on the aquarium's website.
Visitors should expect a somewhat different experience as the aquarium complies with new guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to aquarium officials, the number of visitors allowed in the building will be limited; guests, staff, and volunteers will be required to wear face coverings and follow physical distancing practices; frequent cleaning will be done throughout the building; and movement through the exhibit galleries will be along one-way paths. In addition, all visitors will be required to confirm a public health screening statement before entering the aquarium.
While most exhibits and galleries will be open, the auditorium, children's play areas, the dine-in restaurant, and some interpretive stations will be closed.
The aquarium will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with entry available every half hour until 3:30 p.m.
From July 9-12, the aquarium will be open to members only. Those reservations can also be made online.
