A man from Paso Robles was killed in a crash in Napa last week.
Chancellor Goforth, 30, died when the vehicle he was in went off the road, down an embankment, and into an irrigation pond.
According to the California Highway Patrol, it happened at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, along a private roadway off Dry Creek Road near Alston Park.
Investigators say the vehicle was fully submerged in the pond and Goforth had to be removed from the vehicle by emergency personnel. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
A second man in the car, identified as Peter Onley, 27, of Napa, was able to get out of the vehicle on his own and was not injured.
The CHP says neither man was wearing a seatbelt. It's unclear who was driving.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.
