PG&E announced Thursday it is urging customers to conserve energy during afternoons and evenings throughout the three-day Labor Day weekend.
The state's grid operator, California Independent System Operator (CAISO), issued a Flex Alert based on a forecast of "increased power demand due to expected high temperatures," PG&E officials said in a news release sent to KSBY.
PG&E officials are asking customers to reduce their energy use from 3-9 p.m. every day from Saturday through Monday so customers can ensure the state has enough supply to meet the demand for electricity.
As of Thursday morning, CAISO has not given any indication of a need for rotating power outages during the Labor Day weekend.
