UPDATE (10:38 p.m.) - In a press conference, the LA County Sheriff's Office said one of the deputies shot was a 34-year-old woman, and the other a 24-year-old man.
Both deputies were sworn in just 14 months ago, according to LA Sheriff Alex Villanueva.
A massive search is underway for the shooter after a surveillance video shows a person approach the deputies' parked patrol car and open fire.

ORIGINAL STORY (8:46 p.m.) - Two deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office are "fighting for their lives" after being ambushed, officials say.
In a Tweet, the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office said two deputies were ambushed and shot multiple times while sitting in their patrol vehicle in Compton Saturday around 7 p.m.
Moments ago, 2 of our Sheriff Deputies were shot in Compton and were transported to a local hospital. They are both still fighting for their lives, so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We will update this thread with information as it becomes available.

According to NBC News, it happened near the Metro Blue Line Station located on 275 N Willowbrook Ave.
One male and one female deputy sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition.
According to officials, both were rushed to the hospital and are undergoing surgery.
Authorities are still looking for the shooter or shooters.
