The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to $750 million and the Powerball jackpot is up to $640 million.
The owner of Red Eye Liquor in Santa Maria, Jouzeph Abdulaziz, says the larger the jackpot, the more people buy lottery tickets.
"It's not like as when it started like $40 million," he said. "Now you can see its $750 or $640 for two games - some people try to get the chance to win big."
The next Mega Millions drawing is Friday at 8 p.m. Ticket sales close at 7:45 p.m.
The Powerball winning numbers will be drawn on Saturday at 7:59 p.m. Ticket sales close at 7 p.m.
