Santa Barbara County has confirmed 26 positive cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday, March 25.

For the first time on Wednesday, public health officials identified the communities in which the patients live:

  • 6 in Santa Maria
  • 5 in Orcutt
  • 10 in Santa Barbara
  • 5 in Carpinteria-Montecito-Summerland area

Health officials say 19 of the patients are recovering at home and one is in the hospital. Six patients are considered fully recovered.

At a press conference, county officials said travel in Santa Barbara County is down significantly in just the few days since the governor's order for California residents to stay at home. Still, they pleaded with the public to continue social distancing in order to slow the spread of coronavirus.
