Four youth and one staff member at Santa Maria Juvenile Hall have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Santa Barbara County Probation Department.
Officials say the positive youth were transferred to a medical living unit within the facility, and all youth and staff are being tested.
There are 28 youth currently housed at Juvenile Hall, according to the Probation Department.
Officials say those being processed into the facility are held in an intake unit for a 14-day quarantine and are tested for COVID-19 before being moved into a living unit.
No other information about the ill inmates or staff member was released.
