The intake of animals at Woods Humane Society has slowed and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Woods, which has locations in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero, is still adopting out animals, but by appointment only.

According to Woods’ website, only seven dogs and four cats were up for adoption at both locations as of Friday morning. However, Woods expects to start receiving many kittens soon.

Woods says they’ve also seen a reduction in transfers and surrender of animals during shelter-at-home orders as well.

Local county animal shelters have also seen a reduction in the intake of animals and an increase in adoptions during the pandemic.
