UPDATE (Friday) - Compass Health, Inc. says so far, 40 of 97 employee tests and 57 of 58 Danish Care Center resident tests have come back and all are negative for COVID-19.
CEO Darren Smith says calls the results "encouraging" and says a second round of testing will take place in 12 days and until those results come back, full precaution (freeze on admissions, enhanced PPE program and increased observation for any initial symptoms) will be in place at the facility.
UPDATE (11:50 a.m.) - Compass Health says the certified nursing assistant who tested positive for COVID-19 called in sick for work Monday night with a sore throat and was sent for testing. The positive result came back Wednesday.
All residents and staff that came into contact with the employee are reportedly being tested and "enhanced monitoring and additional infection control precautions are being taken," according to a press release issued Thursday by Compass Health.
(7:04 a.m.) - An Atascadero skilled nursing facility employee has tested positive for COVID-19.
Compass Health CEO Darren Smith confirmed the information Wednesday night, saying the employee is a certified nursing assistant at Danish Care Center in Atascadero.
Smith says there have been no reports of any residents at the facility experiencing any COVID-19-like symptoms or irregularities.
The positive result comes a few weeks after two employees tested positive at Vineyard Hills Health Center in Templeton, which is also owned by Compass Health.
All 79 residents and 139 employees there were tested and there were no other reported cases, according to Smith.
He expects to release more information Thursday about the case at Danish Care Center.
To date, there have been no reports of any COVID-19 cases among residents at any skilled nursing facilities in San Luis Obispo County.
