A California Men’s Colony staff member has tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the third confirmed case at the San Luis Obispo facility.

The information was released Thursday evening with the latest numbers of COVID-19 cases within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation system.

Thursday's confirmed case is the first among staff at the CMC and comes a day after a second inmate tested positive at the facility.

According to the CDCR, positive cases among staff are self-reported.

CMC officials say a contact investigation determined there was no indication that cases between the employee and inmates are connected.

“We are following isolation and quarantine protocols in accordance with CDC guidance to address COVID-19 in correctional settings,” a CDCR spokesperson told KSBY News.

No other information is being released at this time.

To date, 149 CDCR inmates and 105 employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
