Second inmate tests positive for COVID-19 at California Men’s Colony

A second inmate at the California Men’s Colony has tested positive for COVID-19, officials announced Wednesday evening.

The announcement comes 11 days after the first case was reported at the San Luis Obispo facility.

The latest numbers show 18 CMC inmates to date have been tested for the virus.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) says a contact investigation is underway to determine if any other inmates or staff may have been exposed.

No other information is being released at this time.

The CMC’s two confirmed cases are among more than 140 in the CDCR system.

There have been no confirmed cases among CMC staff.
