Health officials report two new COVID-19 related deaths in SLO County, 26 new cases

San Luis Obispo County health officials reported two new COVID-19 related deaths and added 26 new cases on Wednesday, bringing the county's total to 3,479 confirmed cases as of September 23.

Seven people are hospitalized, including three patients who are in the ICU.

Another 233 people are recovering at home and 3,208 have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County has had 29 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Another six are listed as "other," which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Public Health Department is not identifying those locations.

COVID-19 tests are currently available to the public in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo, and Atascadero.

The pop-up testing clinic in Atascadero will be open Mondays through Thursdays from September 21 to October 1.

On Wednesday, Sept. 23, testing will be available in Paso Robles at the corner of 24th St. and Riverside Ave. from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, testing will be available to community members in Heritage Ranch at 2130 Heritage Loop Rd. From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Health officials say registration for the Paso Robles and Heritage Ranch testing locations will be done on-site. The testing is free and no identification or insurance will be required.
