Santa Barbara Co. COVID-19 case total rises to 5,836

Santa Barbara County reported 77 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the county's total to 5,836 confirmed cases as of July 27.

An additional 142 cases were added to the overall case count on Saturday and 41 cases were added on Sunday.

Of the 308 active cases in the community, 79 people are hospitalized, including 24 patients who are in the ICU.

Health officials say 5,496 people have recovered, including 1,008 inmates at the federal prison in Lompoc.

Santa Barbara County has had 32 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Health officials say 73,292 coronavirus tests have been conducted in the county so far. According to the Public Health Department's metrics website, about ten percent of tests have been positive over the past seven days.

Three free coronavirus testing sites are open to the community in Santa Barbara County. They are located at the Santa Maria Fairpark in Santa Maria, the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, and at the AMR Central Training Center in Buellton.

The location of an additional 203 cases is listed as "pending."
