Santa Barbara County reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the county's total to 1,636 confirmed cases as of May 28.
Of that total, 971 cases are inmates at the federal prison in Lompoc. Only 14 of those cases are currently active.
Of the cases in the community, 29 people are currently hospitalized, including ten patients who are in the ICU.
Another 87 people are recovering at home and 526 people have recovered.
Santa Barbara County has had 12 deaths attributed to COVID-19, including two inmates at the prison.
Health officials say 17,619 coronavirus tests have been conducted in the county so far.
Three free coronavirus testing sites are open to the community in Santa Barbara County -- at the Santa Maria Fairpark, the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, and the Anderson Recreation Center in Lompoc.
