Santa Barbara Co. reports 13 new cases of COVID-19

Santa Barbara County reported 13 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the county's total to 1,649 confirmed cases as of May 29.

Of that total, 971 cases are at the federal prison in Lompoc and 678 cases are in the community.

All of the new cases are community cases.

Health officials say that of the community cases, 28 people are hospitalized, including nine patients who are in the ICU. Eighty-eight people are recovering at home and another 537 people have fully recovered.

On Friday, the Federal Bureau of Prisons reported that a third inmate at the prison facility in Lompoc died this week after testing positive for COVID-19.

Health officials say 18,137 coronavirus tests have been conducted in the county so far.

Three free coronavirus testing sites are open to the community in Santa Barbara County -- at the Santa Maria Fairpark, the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara, and the Anderson Recreation Center in Lompoc.
