The San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department says it is working closely with the California Men's Colony (CMC) to manage a COVID-19 outbreak at the prison.

As of Tuesday, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation was reporting a total of 117 confirmed inmate cases at CMC. There were 14 confirmed cases among staff.

County health officials say 140 prison staff members have been tested by County Public Health so far, and that CMC is isolating and quarantining inmates with symptoms or who have tested positive.

Public Health says it has also been advising CMC leadership on health measures to slow the spread and prevent a larger outbreak.
