SLO County adds 209 new COVID-19 cases

San Luis Obispo County added 209 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the county's total to 16,437 confirmed cases as of January 22.

Health officials say 52 people are hospitalized. Another 2,033 people are recovering at home and health officials say 14,169 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County is reporting that 19 of the 38 licensed and staffed ICU beds in the county are currently occupied. Eight of them are taken by COVID-19 patients.

The county has had 151 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

  • California Men's Colony (inmates) - 2,218
  • Atascadero - 1,460
  • Nipomo - 1,185
  • Arroyo Grande - 1,164
  • Grover Beach - 698
  • Oceano - 570
  • Templeton - 485
  • San Miguel - 411
  • Los Osos - 365
  • Morro Bay - 328
  • Cal Poly (campus residents) - 324
  • Pismo Beach - 259
  • Atascadero State Hospital (patients) - 190
  • Cambria - 146
  • Shandon - 118
  • Santa Margarita - 107
  • Creston - 67
  • Cayucos - 58
  • Avila Beach - 25
  • San Simeon - 15

The location of 86 additional cases is under investigation, and another nine are listed as "other," which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Public Health Department is not identifying those locations.

Community COVID-19 testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach, and Nipomo.
