SLO County reports 215 new COVID-19 cases

San Luis Obispo County added 215 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the county's total to 17,366 confirmed cases as of January 27.

Health officials say 49 people are currently hospitalized. Another 1,801 people are recovering at home and health officials say 15,323 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County is reporting that 20 of the 38 licensed and staffed ICU beds in the county are currently occupied. Fourteen of them are taken by COVID-19 patients.

San Luis Obispo County has had 161 deaths attributed to the virus. No new deaths were reported on Wednesday.

The location of 66 additional cases is under investigation, and another nine are listed as "other," which includes communities with fewer than five cases. The Public Health Department is not identifying those locations.

Community COVID-19 testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach, and Nipomo.
