San Luis Obispo County is reporting that two more county residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died.
Health officials say both were in their 80s and had underlying health conditions. Both also lived at Vineyard Hills Health Center in Templeton, a skilled nursing facility which has had an outbreak of the virus among both residents and staff.
Vineyard Hills has had a total of three residents and one former resident all with COVID-19 who have died since the start of the pandemic.
The Public Health Department says it is working with the owner of the facility, Compass Health, to stop the spread of infection and prevent a larger outbreak. That reportedly includes isolation of those who are sick and ongoing testing.
San Luis Obispo County also reported 45 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the county's total to 1,689 confirmed cases as of July 28.
Thirteen people are hospitalized, including four patients who are in the ICU.
Another 404 people are recovering at home and 1,261 people have recovered.
San Luis Obispo County has had a total of eleven deaths attributed to COVID-19.
COVID-19 tests are currently available to the public in Grover Beach, San Luis Obispo, and Morro Bay.
The pop-up testing clinic in Morro Bay will be open only through Wednesday, July 29.

Health officials say 476 cases, or about 28% of the county's total, are the result of the patient having direct contact with a person who tested positive for the virus; 406 cases are attributed to community spread; and, 127 cases are the result of travel outside the county. Another 680 cases are still under investigation.

An additional 31 cases are in communities with fewer than five cases, and the Public Health Department is not identifying those locations. The location of eleven cases is listed as "under investigation."
