Three more inmates in Santa Barbara County jail test positive for COVID-19

Three inmates at the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office jail have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the jail’s number of positive cases to 39, according to a release from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

The three inmates were previously exposed to inmates who tested positive for COVID-19 and had tested negative about a week ago. The inmates were retested on Thursday, and those results came back positive. The three inmates have been relocated within the jail and are being monitored while contract tracing and testing continues.

Of the 39 positive cases, 32 of the inmates have contracted coronavirus from within the facility.
