San Luis Obispo County now has three designated sites where the homeless can sleep in their vehicles overnight during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The sites are located at the Los Osos Library parking lot at 2075 Palisades Avenue in Los Osos, Coastal Dunes RV Park & Campground at 1001 Pacific Boulevard Highway 1 in Oceano, and the SLO Veterans Hall at 801 Grand Avenue in San Luis Obispo.

The sites are open daily from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and have bathrooms and hot showers. Those seeking to spend the night at these locations must agree to abide by site rules, including physical distancing, respectful behavior, and no drug use.

If no participants arrive by 10 p.m., the site will close for the night.

County personnel are reportedly monitoring use of the sites and assessing the need to continue these sites and/or open new locations.
