Santa Maria Police Department investigating two shootings

On Sunday, November 8th, 2020 at about 10:16 p.m., Santa Maria Police received several calls of shots heard in the area of Miller and Oak streets. Once officers arrived on scene they located a victim of the shooting who had suffered gunshot wounds.

The shooting was determined to have taken place on the 200 block of East Oak Street. The adult male victim was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center by ambulance where he was treated for non-life-threatening wounds.

While the investigation was being conducted, SMPD began receiving calls of another shooting.

At about 11:00 p.m. SMPD received calls of shots heard in the area of the 1200 block north Mary. Upon officers arrival, they located evidence of a shooting which occurred but did not locate a victim.

As the investigation was being conducted, an adult male victim arrived at Marian Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

The victim had been transported to the hospital by a private vehicle and it was determined to be related to the second shooting. The victim sustained a single non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was treated for his injury.

According to the Santa Maria Police Department, at this time there is no indication that the shootings are related.

Santa Maria Police Detectives and Crime Lab responded to the scenes and the investigation is ongoing.
