All High Schools in San Luis Obispo County are encouraged to join SLO County's “Student Poll Worker Challenge.”

The county's goal is to increase civic engagement in high school students, between the ages of 16 and 18, and give them an opportunity to earn community service volunteer hours.

The high school with the most student volunteers assisting at Voter Service Centers for the upcoming General Election will win bragging rights and a trophy, which will be passed to the next winner for subsequent Elections.

Voter Service Centers will be open October 31st through November 3rd for the four days of voting.

Student qualifications, along with a teacher and parent signature, include:

  • Being at least 16 years old at the time of the election.
  • A U.S. citizen at the time of the election.
  • A high school student with a grade point average of at least 2.5.
  • Having your own transportation.
