UPDATE: Crews battling brush fire near Lopez Lake

UPDATE (3:03 p.m.) – CAL FIRE reports that the fire in the Upper Lopez Lake area has burned 1/2-acre and is currently being mopped up.

Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene for a few hours.


 

(2:09 p.m.) – Firefighters were responding to reports Tuesday afternoon of a vegetation fire near Lopez Lake.

Shortly after 2 p.m., CAL FIRE SLO said air tankers were on scene battling the fire estimated at a quarter-acre in size near the Big Falls trailhead in the Upper Lopez Lake area.

Crews on the ground were working to gain access to the area.

Earlier in the day, firefighters put out another quarter-acre fire that broke out in the area of Hillview Place and Alejandro Way in Nipomo.
