UPDATE (3 p.m.) – CAL FIRE reports that the fire is fully contained.
Crews are expected to remain at the scene for the next few hours extinguishing hot spots and strengthening containment lines.
(2:28 p.m.) – Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire in Bull Canyon east of Santa Maria on Tuesday.
It was reported at around 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of Bull Canyon Rd., south of Highway 166.
By 2:20 p.m., CAL FIRE said the fire was 50 percent contained and had burned 1/4 to 1/2 acre.
Firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service and Santa Barbara County Fire were assisting.
