Fire damages home, burns 14 acres in California Valley

UPDATE (2:42 p.m.) – CAL FIRE reports that the wildland fire is 80 percent contained.


 

UPDATE (1:14 p.m.) – CAL FIRE reports that the house fire has been contained with 10 percent of the structure damaged.

Fire crews will remain on scene for some time, continuing to mop up the fire and strengthen fire lines.


 

UPDATE (1:02 p.m.) – Firefighters say the brush fire is now 60 percent contained and the forward rate of spread has stopped.

CAL FIRE says the fire has burned a revised 14 acres.


 

ORIGINAL STORY (12:23 p.m.) – Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire in California Valley Friday morning.

It was reported just after 11 a.m. in the area of Dominguez Trail and Cunningham Rd.

CAL FIRE says forward progress of the fire has been stopped at 15 acres, but the flames also damaged a home and firefighters are still working to put out that blaze.

The Red Cross is reportedly en route to help the residents affected by the fire.
