Santa Barbara County firefighters made quick work of a vegetation fire east of Santa Maria Thursday night.
According to fire officials, the fire was reported at 5:47 p.m. near Mesa Road and Tepusquet Road.
The blaze consumed about 1/4 acre of vegetation before it was extinguished by firefighters. No structures were threatened.
A fire investigator has been called to the scene to determine a cause.
